Michal Mahgerefteh

Poetic and Artistic Voice

About Poetica Magazine

Founded in 2002 by Michal Mahgerefteh, Poetica is a literary magazine dedicated to bringing Jewish poetry into the public forum without compromising the art of its poetry.

Poetica's goal is to offer an outlet for the many writers who draw from their Jewish background and experiences to create poetry and prose, giving both emerging and recognized writers the opportunity to share their work with the larger community.

Poetica is published three times per year in March, July, and November, with each volume centered on a theme. In each issue, we include poetry, short stories, prose, and essays by over thirty writers. Submissions are accepted from all writers as long as the works comply with editorial guidelines.

Poetica seeks to be a small and focused publishing venue. Although not yet designated a 501(c) 3 organization, Poetica is not for profit. All monies from subscriptions, contests, and sales go directly toward covering the costs of production. We are grateful to the many readers and writers who support Poetica with subscriptions and donations. A special THANK YOU goes to Ben Mahgerefteh for his continued support.

Poetica writers and subscribers are from the U.S., the U.K.,Canada, Mexico, Israel, Japan, India, Italy, South Africa, the Phillippines, Spain, Argentina, Czech Republic, France, Brazil and Swiss.
